It’s been years since I read a book by Jennifer Weiner. I won an Advanced Review Copy through an Instagram giveaway and it went towards the top of my TBR pile the minute it arrived.
I was so excited to win a print copy because I’ve heard this is going to be a really popular book this summer. It’s fun to get the opportunity to read books before they’re officially published and I remember loving her books.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read one of her books but after reading Big Summer I definitely plan to add more of her recent books to my TBR list!

Review & Thoughts
Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner
Big Summer is about a young woman that’s a plus-size social media influencer and the story of her journey in life. If you’re not familiar with influencers, they get paid to post and promote brands on their Instagram channel. Being an influencer requires you to constantly posting about your life and there’s pressure to always look good and be perfect. Being a plus-size influencer has it’s own set of pressures that come along with the job.
I enjoyed the theme of the story, the idea of how the world perceives us and how we see ourselves. It was an interesting perspective to see the inner dialogue between the character’s thoughts and what she would actually post. I think it’s extremely relatable to want to seem perfect all the time but ultimately people connect with authenticity and it’s important to stay true to who you are.
There’s a surprising twist: Be prepared for a major twist. Halfway through the book there’s a really big surprise that I completely didn’t see coming!!
In a Nutshell: Enjoyable and thought provoking with a twist I didn’t see coming
My Rating: 4.5 / 5 Stars

Book Blurb:
Six years after the fight that ended their friendship, Daphne Berg is shocked when Drue Cavanaugh walks back into her life, looking as lovely and successful as ever, with a massive favor to ask. Daphne hasn’t spoken one word to Drue in all this time—she doesn’t even hate-follow her ex-best friend on social media—so when Drue asks if she will be her maid-of-honor at the society wedding of the summer, Daphne is rightfully speechless.
Drue was always the one who had everything—except the ability to hold onto friends. Meanwhile, Daphne’s no longer the same self-effacing sidekick she was back in high school. She’s built a life that she loves, including a growing career as a plus-size Instagram influencer. Letting glamorous, seductive Drue back into her life is risky, but it comes with an invitation to spend a weekend in a waterfront Cape Cod mansion. When Drue begs and pleads and dangles the prospect of cute single guys, Daphne finds herself powerless as ever to resist her friend’s siren song.
