As one year comes to a close and another begins, I like to take time to reflect on all of the wonderful things that happened in the past year that have gotten me where I am today. We’re human beings and I’m certainly not perfect, but even if things aren’t 100% the way you’d like them to be, you have to appreciate all that you have in order to truly be happy. You also have to recognize when you’re not being your healthiest, happiest self and commit to making changes to reach that goal.
As my husband will tell you, I’m not a fan of making New Year’s resolutions. Making goals and creating a plan to be more productive with my time is an important vehicle for change, but I don’t think resolutions work. Resolutions tend to be unrealistic and lofty and generally aren’t backed by thoughtful steps and actions. Goals, both small and large, are best achieved when they’re broken down into realistic steps in order to accomplish the overall goal.
Today’s post is about helping you find the inspiration to embark on the next year with a positive mindset and over the coming weeks and months I want to be a source of motivation to encourage you to take daily steps towards a healthier future. My goal for 2020 is to cultivate a healthier me and to inspire my community to be healthier too.
New Year, New Goals
A new year is a wonderful opportunity for a fresh start. I love the idea of picking an intention for the year and my word for the year is going to be focus (it’s a fun play on 2020 vision, right?!). 2020 is going to be the year of focus. My main goal is to focus on finding joy. Creating joy. Sharing joy.
Finding ways to focus on the things that matter to me like my relationship, my health, and my personal sense of financial and professional satisfaction are a fantastic way to find joy in my everyday life. Focusing on making small changes everyday to better my health will help me be happy in my own skin. You only get one body and I haven’t been treating mine as well as I should over the past few years.
Excuses are easy to make and even more difficult to overcome but focusing on the positives and taking life one day at a time is vital to making the most of our most precious commodity – time. One of the biggest ways I plan to make better use my time this year is by focusing on improving my personal health and wellness and my blogging goals include consistency and getting back to my book blogging roots.
2020 Vision: Focus on Finding Joy
My life’s mantra is that every day is worth celebrating and if you can find joy in your every day life and focus on living each day to the fullest you can create a happy life for yourself. Here’s a few areas of my life that I’ll be focusing on this year:
Focus on finding joy in… nourishing my body with healthy and nutritious food.
Focus on finding joy in… building strength with intentional workouts.
Focus on finding joy in… eliminating waste and cutting back on spending.
Focus on finding joy in… blogging consistently.
Focus on finding joy in… getting back to my book blogging roots.
Focus on finding joy in… being present in the moment.
Focus on finding joy in… the simple pleasures of everyday life.
Did you set intentions and goals for the coming year?
What are you focusing on in 2020?
Love this post! Being thankful for whatever we have is so important. I’m going to focus on taking better care of myself and getting rid of some clutter.
My word this year is also focus! I’ll admit that I’m not doing the best with it right now but I’ll get there!
