Reviewing books I’ve read is one of my favorite ways to share my thoughts with my readers. Today I’m sharing a review of a novel by Kate Hewitt in addition to sharing an exclusive guest post written by the author herself!

A Vicarage Wedding by Kate Hewitt
My Review:
I loved this novel and realized that this was the third in a series of four books and I hadn’t read the first two yet. Although it’s a series, as I’ve certainly found they can be read as stand alone novels. There’s four stories in the series, each one based on the different sisters; Anna, Ester, Rachel, and Miriam. The next in series will continue Miriam’s story, which based on her situation in this book should turn out to be an interesting one.
The main theme of Rachel’s story is the idea that life is about finding happiness and love with someone that truly brings you joy, rather than being with someone that you like the idea of rather than the person themselves. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to have a family, children, pets, and a nice home, but those are things that are built upon with someone that you love. You don’t just pluck someone up because you want those things if you aren’t also in love with that person.
Although love can grow with age, it’s important to begin a long-term relationship with someone with a basis in love rather than only friendship. A relationship might seem perfect on paper but in reality it’s missing that all important spark. Another relationship might not seem great in theory but in reality could be the wonderful and loving relationship that they yearned for from the get go. Nothing is perfect despite how it may seem to those on the outside and oftentimes people make mistakes. It’s how people overcome those mistakes and troubling times that builds and develops their character and at the end of the time, everyone deserves to find love and happiness.

About the Book
Title: A Vicarage Wedding (The Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite, Book 3)
Author: Kate Hewitt
Book Blurb: Rachel Holley has always dreamed of a wedding—the white dress, the fairy tale, and of course, the happily-ever-after. But when her fiancé breaks it off the night before, claiming she doesn’t love him, Rachel’s fairy tale ends in ashes.
Homeless, hopeless, and feeling like her life has been completely derailed, Rachel must start over in all sorts of ways—and hold her head up high in the fishbowl of her tiny village. The last person she expects to become a friend is Sam West, the taciturn owner of The Bell, Thornthwaite’s rougher pub, and a little rough around the edges of himself.
But as Rachel gets to know Sam, and sees him caring for his orphaned nephew, she finds herself drawn to this enigmatic man. Nothing about Sam is what Rachel expected in a life partner, and yet she can’t deny their increasing closeness. But can love flourish on the rebound? And will there be a vicarage wedding after all?

When Life Doesn’t Go According to Plan by Kate Hewitt
The inspiration for my Holley Sisters series has been what happens when life doesn’t turn out the way you expected to—or it even blows up in your face? In each story, one sister has to face that question—and find her own answer.
Rachel Holley thinks she has it all—the perfect groom, the perfect wedding, the perfect life. She’d made it all just as she wants it—and then her fiancé breaks it off the night before the wedding, claiming she doesn’t love him enough.
This leaves Rachel with a lot of thinking to do. Is Dan right? Does she even know how to love someone? And what kind of life can she have, now that all the pieces she so carefully constructed have been shattered?
In my own life I’ve experienced the pain and tragedy of life not going according to plan—and on certain occasions veering wildly off the hoped-for route! But I’ve also learned that these roadblocks don’t have to be obstacles to your happiness—they can be stepping stones. It really depends on your attitude, which is part of what Rachel has to learn—and she has handsome pub owner Sam West to help her!
I hope you enjoy the latest instalment in The Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite!
