I’m Officially Thirty Years Old!
On June 1st I turned 30 years old. Going from 29 to 30 is much like any other as you don’t suddenly wake up that morning feeling a year older. Rather you age every day over time until you find yourself another year older. Turning 30 doesn’t necessarily mean that you feel older, but it does mean leaving your 20’s behind and officially entering your 30’s. Your 20’s is a decade filled with big life events such as finishing your education, finding your place in the world, building lasting friendships, and finding the person you want to spend your life with.
Late 20’s are the beginning stages of young adulthood, but once you hit your 30’s it’s the beginning of mature adulthood. If you want to have children, now is the time that you have to start thinking about when you want to have them by. My personal mindset is that I don’t want to have kids past 35, which realistically means that I need to start thinking about getting pregnant when I’m 33. Thankfully I have a few years before that comes because I’m certainly not ready to be a mom quite yet. Right now the tail end of my late 20’s and the beginning of my 30’s is filled with big life events such as engagements and weddings. After that there will be babies and buying a house, whew!
Focusing on Health and Fitness
One of the biggest things I want to focus on now that I’m 30 is my personal fitness and overall health. In order to do that I need to work on getting myself physically and mentally fit and work on being the best version of myself possible. Right now, I’m heavier than I’m comfortable being. I’m also at a place in my life where I want to focus on personal and professional development. My goal over the next few months as I prepare for my upcoming wedding in November and the next stage in my life is to lose 20 pounds, increase my physical strength and stamina, work on personal development, and continue my professional education.
Yes, I do have 20 pounds to lose and though you might think I look great, I’m physically uncomfortable with the extra weight I’ve put on over the past 5 years. As we age, our metabolism begins to slow, in addition to having a sit-down jobs that doesn’t inspire health, fitness, and moving about. In regards to physical strength and stamina my goal is to be able to lift, flip over, and change the 5 gallon water at my office. I want to be strong enough to change it myself without having to ask one of the guys to do it. I want to continue reading personal development books and expanding my mind and at the same time I want to continue to grow professionally by becoming a licensed insurance broker.
