Traveling is something I enjoy doing but don’t get a chance to do often. Two weeks ago I was in Nashville, Tennessee for a short business trip and if my memory is correct, it was the first business trip I’ve ever been on!
I’m a benefit administrator at an insurance company and we are in the process of adopting an online benefit administration portal system for our clients to use for benefits and on-boarding. We were in Nashville for training and got hands on experience navigating the backend of the portal. The training was informative and interesting, and I’m extremely excited to begin getting our clients into the system. Perhaps this may seem boring to you, but I love working with website and computer systems so the next few months is going to be a fun adventure for me.
One of the best parts about the training being in Nashville was that we got to experience the local culture and most importantly, THE FOOD! Nashville has a fun local vibe and tons of great places to eat. Here’s a list of three places we ate at that I highly recommend you check out the next time you visit the city.
3 Tasty Restaurants to Try While in Nashville
1. Tavern – Midtown
This was my first introduction to Nashville eats and it was a great first stop! The overall vibe is a trendy casual pub and the food is great. Wednesday evenings they have a 2 for 1 drink menu and I went with the delicious blackberry margarita! Their Nashville sweet potato fries were so incredibly good and came with jalapeno ketchup which had a little kick and I had a seriously delicious burger.

2. Midtown Cafe
The hotel we stayed at didn’t have a great breakfast menu (they had about 5 options, all with a poached egg on top) so we wanted to find somewhere to eat breakfast the two days we were there. We found a cozy little restaurant walking around downtown our first night there. It was so good that we ate breakfast there both days.
The first day I got a build your own omelette with gouda cheese, bacon, and avocado with a side of breakfast potatoes and sourdough toast. The second day I got challah french toast. Their french toast was so incredibly sweet and delicious with peach compote on top with a bit of whipped cream.

3. Martin’s BBQ
Our last night in Nashville the company had a private event at Martin’s BBQ. It was served family style which was fantastic because we got to try all of their specialities! They started with a fantastic salad, then moved on to potato salad, green beans, and seriously amazing mac and cheese. The main dishes included roasted chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. The decor was cute with tons of mason jar decor and the overall vibe of the restaurant was energetic. The restaurant itself is 3 levels and a combination of indoor and outdoor.
What to Get: Everything! But seriously, you have to try their Mac & Cheese!
