Drinking wine is one of the best luxuries given to those over 21 years old. Whether your go-to glass is red, white, rose, or something bubbly, wine is delicious and best enjoyed at any time (just don’t enjoy at work or before you’re driving somewhere please!).
This coming Sunday is National Drink Wine Day and if you’re like me you certainly don’t need a reason to drink wine, but isn’t this a fun one?! Multiple studies over the years have shown that drinking a glass of wine a day improves heart health, reduces forgetfulness, boosts immunity, and increases bone density. I’m sure there’s plenty of studies that contradict some of these findings, but I’ll take my chances and go with the idea that wine is good for you!Ā

We drink wine often and I like to have at minimum 1-2 dozen bottles at home. I prefer to find the best wine deals when I buy and tend to buy in bulk when stores offer a discount when you purchase 6+ at a time. One of my biggest recommendations is don’t be a wine snob based on the price of a bottle! We’ve found some delicious wines that were in the $4-8 a bottle range and have tried some that were in the $20-30 range that were just so-so. A few of my favorite bottles from Trader Joe’s are only $3.99 and almost all of them are $9.99 or less.
One tip that I’ve found useful when wine shopping is to take photos of wine you purchase next to the shelf label for two reasons; 1) you know how much you spent when you open the bottle and 2) you have a picture of the label if you liked it and you want to buy more. I keep a photo folder on my phone with pictures of wine labels and mark the ones we enjoy as favorites as a reminder for when I go shopping.
I usually get wine from Trader Joe’s because anything they have is going to be a reasonable price and shy of really good sales, they have best price you can find. They also have Trader Joe’s labels that are actually more expensive wines with TJ labels so you’re getting a really good deal. I like to stock up on wine when I go to Total Wine when they have 15% off coupons and at Stater Bros when they have their 40% off wine sales. Every so often I’ll also pick up wine at Costco when they have a good selection because they usually have the wine spectator ratings and they tend to have good prices too.
If you’re a major wine lover and you don’t have a good storage solution yet, I highly recommend getting a bar cabinet. You’ll want something that stores wine, alcohol, and all your wine glasses. We recently splurged and bought a gorgeous bar cabinet from Crate and Barrel and I have to say it was totally worth the money! It’s exactly what we’ve been looking for but there’s tons of options available if you have a smaller space or not looking to spend a ton of money.
Wether you have a nice bar cabinet or just a small designated bar space, you’ll want to make sure you have go-to accessories such as a wine decanter, aerator, and bar-top cocktail sets.
You’ll want to make sure you have fun stuff like cork holders and wine accessories! We save our wine corks in a pretty holder and one of these days we’ll make something fun with them like a cork trivet or a cork wreath. Fun wine glasses and accessories are also a must! We tend to like simple wine glasses paired with fun accessories such as wine markers so guests know which glass is theirs. Amazon is a great place to find options that you normally won’t see in stores.
Wine accessories and wine related items also make great gifts for the wine drinkers in your life (which is probably just about everyone, right?!) and they make great gifts for multiple occasions. Wether someone is celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or you need a hostess or thank you gift, every wine lover in your life will enjoy these types of gifts.
I hope this blog post has inspired you to join me in opening a bottle and pouring yourself a healthy glass!
Let me know in the comments below, what are your favorite wines and go-to accessories?

I am a Barefoot Moscato fan! I have tried other wines, but always come back to this one. That is amazing that you have at a minimum 1-2 dozen bottles. I aspire to one day be you! Definitely going to have to pick up some wine for this Sunday. Thanks for the heads up. š
My favorite wines are honey-based from South Africa. Unfortunately they are reserves and hard to get here. Good post.
Great article. Love the Vintage 1988 wine glass for a 30th birthday gift!
Anything involving wine and you can count me in! This is a great post and you most definitely have inspired me to open a bottle and enjoy the most amazing concoction out there!
It’s National Drink Wine Day?! My goodness — I am going to have to go home after work and pour myself a glass of the best bubbly rose, sit back, and enjoy!
Cute post! x

I love your idea of taking a picture of the wines you’re buying. I’m always trying to save the bottles until I get a chance to take the information down for next time. But I think it would be so much easier to do your way!
I am currently on the search for a bar cabinet that will work with my house! I can’t wait to have a proper layout. I usually get my wines at trader joes too, usually has the best prices and selection.
Maybe I’ll crack open a bubbly! Cheers!
National wine day for me every day haha! Right now Iām really into Jacobs creek moscato or Voga moscato. So delicious!
Oh my goodness! Girl after my own heart or palate that is! It seems we have a lot in common. I followed your FB page. š
I don’t drink much wine, but the few I have found that I like are always the super cheap Moscattos. We actually found a wine from Lynch winery so bought a 2013 vintage to save for my oldest son and still need to find a 2015 for my youngest since those are the years they were born.
I like really sweet wines but don’t drink too often. I am a coffee and vanilla coke kinda girl. But all of these wine things are so fun!!! Thanks for sharing.
I love a good glass of wine!
Girl you’re speaking to me! I love my wines. Drinking age in Ontario, Canada is 19 (yahoooo) and I’ve recently been introduced to an amazing new Riesling that I cannot get enough of. It’s called Late Harvest Riesling from the Peele Island Winery. I will be opening a bottle on Sunday for sure!
nice post. i love to read this.
I drink wine at least three times a week. I h as no clue there was a mationalmwone day! Great post. I alu Aj take pictures of all new bottles to try again later.
I also take pictures of new bottles to try later.
I didn’t know this was a thing! I’ll have a glass tonight to celebrate.

Any excuse to drink lots of wine is good by me. I love a good bottle of wine and I have a great wine fridge that sits in top of my bar. I love the suggestion of taking pictures of the wine you buy, so many times I love a wine and then forget about it!
Awesome info. This is great for wine drinkers!!
Just reading this post makes me want to rush back home and crack open a bottle of red. I didn’t even know about the National Wine day!!!…. Brilliant! I always take photos too… of the wines I like and keep the for next time am out shopping š
I’m not a wine drinker BUT I have friends who are going to love this!!! I’ll have to share it with them.
National drink wine day ?? I have never heard of this before, BTW nice pictures š
Hahaha this is the 2nd time I am hearing about this! I don’t know much about wine. I like to sample them and have my favorites but would like to go on a wine tasting and learn more about them and the process.
If you live near a Total Wine or BevMo they do in-store tastings every so often, which is a good way to try before you buy š
I hoard wine too! I love having a few varieties on hand to fit whatever we are doing for dinner and being able to grab a bottle to bring as a hostess gift. Taking a picture is such a great tip! Iām always forgetting the names and prices of wines I love.
Really great post, I try to keep at least 2 bottles on hand just in case company comes over or in case I just want a glass. I love BC wines and try to love to make a trip out to the wineries once a year.
I’m not a big drinker, but a glass of red wine after a long day is always welcome, especially if is a Merlot or a Shiraz.
My mom started drinking wine recently because of its health benefits lol. I probably show this to my mom.
I get my wine from Trader Joe’s too! I loved your idea of clicking a picture of your wine bottle. Great idea!
I love you suggestion of taking a photo of the wine when you buy it- I always forget to do that and I always find myself loving a wine but not remembering what kind it was!
This was such a great read. Now off to drink a glass of red š
I love the idea of the wine photo folder on your phone! Genius! There is nothing worse that buying a not wonderful wine for the second time…especially if it is pricey! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Thank you for sharing, I had no idea it’s national wine day! not that I need a reason to drink it as well, I love wine, it’s always my favorite drink.
I also always buy wine at trader joes, and it’s genius to take the pictures of the labels! Even though I already have my favorites from trader joes, we always like to try new ones š
Yummmmm a wine day, probably the best thing over the year! Totally my jam haha. Great post! xx
Ugh I can’t wait to have a glass of wine! I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant so no wine for me. My favorite is a nice Sauvignon Blanc!
I love wine! I always have a few bottles of red at home. I have a few of your accessories suggestions and the Vinturi V1010 Essential Wine Aerator is really good and I recommend it.
Taking a pic of the bottle is such a good idea. I always forget which bottles of wine I actually liked and which I didn’t! This would be so helpful! PS. Drinking wine as I write this!
Some of those benefits are new to me! I have been getting more forgetful lately so I think this is a great remedy!
Awesome! Makes for a great holiday!!!
I had no idea that national drink whine day was a thing! I enjoy a glass now and then, but not enough to keep a lot on hand. I really enjoyed this post though!
Loved the idea of the wine folder on phone. Cant wait to get mine. Have a great weekend gorgeoous
Yes! Having the photos in my photo makes for easy shopping when I’m in the store stocking up on more wine š
Really amazing article. And myself not much of a wine drinker but I think I will give it a shot. Keep up the good work.
If you’re not a wine drinker it’s more of an acquired taste. Always in good company drinking whatever suits you, whether it’s alcoholic or not.
Ahhhh How did I miss national drink wine day!!?? Love it!
You didn’t miss it, it’s this Sunday the 18th! š
I do not drink that much. When I do I ike a sweet white wine or someting with a fruit flavour.
Awesome info. This is great for wine drinkers!! Personally, I’m not really a fan of wine.
Wine isn’t for everyone, and I do have a few friends that don’t drink or only drink on occasion
I have a vintage cork holder in my kitchen and it is one of my favorite items of decor!
I love drinking wine too. I didn’t know wine had so many health benefits. I knew it improve your heart health but I didn’t know it also, reduces forgetfulness, boosts immunity, and increases bone density. This gives me more reasons to drink a glass a wine daily. I love collecting beautiful wine glasses because it makes drinking wine more enjoyable.
Happy National Wine Day! I’m a fan of both red and white. I too take photos, it helps me remember which ones I particularly like!
I miss when I had something like this around the home. It was so nice to have. And it was great trying out with all of the various different meals we would have at home. I always wanted a wine a cheese party but never happened. Someday would be nice. It’s too bad I polished off my last bottle a while ago or I would definitely have had one for wine day.
Wine is the alcohol I like the most from any other. I did not know that there is a national day like this. š
My favorite brand of wine would have to be Stella or something like that. Lol. My dad says it’s mostly sugar, but it’s my favorite. I am not a huge fan of strong wines but I am trying to get more into them!(: Great post!
National Drink Wine Day ? didn’t know about that! sounds like such a fun idea! will share this with my wine lover friends!
awesome! I didn’t know about this, I always go for white fruity wines, I specially love Santorini one from Greece.
xx

I love to have a nice glass of wine at night. Unfortunately, I can only afford that luxury on weekends because my days are crazy busy during the week.
