My Review:

I loved this novel! Izzy is a dynamic and ridiculously fun character that makes you want to be her friend. She’s gorgeous and sexy and has a lot of personality wrapped up in her Latina life. She’s got fabulous friends and a fabulous job… that is until she realizes that the modeling jobs have dried up now that she’s almost 30! She’s still in fantastic shape but she’s no longer able to make a living modeling so she comes up with a plan to snag a wealthy man and make being his wife her job. She loves clothes and expensive things and what better way to secure a life of comfort and luxury?

Izzy begins to discover that money isn’t everything and although it can buy a lot, it can’t buy you attention from the people you care about most. Does she really want to settle with a husband that doesn’t give her the time of day in exchange for a lifetime full of luxury? Is it worth it if you don’t have anyone to share it with? Izzy begins to realize that there’s more to life than being beautiful and rich. She even discovers a hidden talent and I love what she decides to do with it and the person she allows herself to become. The guy she ends up with doesn’t hurt either, and I love the messages and themes throughout the story about love being the most important thing. The love you have from your friends and family, and the one person that makes you feel amazing, the person that knows you, maybe better than you know yourself is the best kind of love. The person that will always be there for you, even when you hits times of trouble and if you don’t have a lot of money, is the kind of person you want to spend your life with.

Overall this was a fantastic fun book with great messages about being true to yourself and discovering what you want out of life. The only thing I didn’t like was that some of the Spanish that was thrown in here and there had no English translation, so there was a bit I didn’t understand. Otherwise, this book was hilarious and I highly recommend it. [Blush meter note — there were a few scenes that had a small blush factor, but no full on sex scenes.] Enjoy!

An avid reader and writer, Tracie Banister has been scribbling stories since she was a child, most of them featuring feisty heroines with complicated love lives like her favorite fictional protagonist Scarlett O’Hara. Her work was first seen on the stage of her elementary school, where her 4^th grade class performed an original holiday play she penned. (Like all good divas-in-the-making, she also starred in and tried to direct the production.)

Tracie’s dreams of authorial success were put on the backburner when she reached adulthood and discovered that she needed a “real” job in order to pay her bills. Her career as personal assistant to a local entrepreneur lasted for 12 years. When it ended, she decided to follow her bliss and dedicate herself to writing full-time. She is the proud winner of the 2017 Independent Press Award (Romantic Comedy) and a Bronze Medal in the 2017 Readers’ Favorite Awards (Chick Lit).

Although Tracie swore she’d never write a sequel to any of her books, the character of Izzy Alvarez, who first appeared in In Need of Therapy, would not be denied. Izzy As Is is Tracie’s fifth novel, and she hopes readers enjoy this return trip to Miami.
