Today I’m excited to tell you about a new book that was released by Kate O’Keeffe called One Last First Date and share an exclusive guest post written by the author herself. Enjoy!
Title: One Last First Date
Series: Cozy Cottage Cafe Series
Author: Kate O’Keeffe
Release Date: June 1st, 2017
Tour Dates: June 11th – 16th, 2017
Genre: Chick Lit
Cassie Dunhill is sick of dating. It’s been ten years and it’s time, time to find The One. It’s either that or buy a fetching habit and veil and abandon the whole thing. But Cassie believes in love, and she’s not ready to give up yet.
Cassie and her best friends make a pact that the next date they go on will be their One Last First Date. The pressure is on to find Mr. Right, and Cassie’s the first to find him: Parker Hamilton. He’s good-looking, smart, cultured—and a doctor. Despite his obvious credentials, Cassie’s not taking any chances. She’s vetted Parker so thoroughly she could offer some pointers to the CIA. He passes with flying colors.
Things get complicated when Will Jordan, her irritating work colleague, muscles in on her dream job and her love life. Will is a typical guy, complete with nicknames for everyone, even Cassie. His good looks and relaxed and easy nature can be distracting. But Cassie can do without that kind of distraction right now, no matter how good Will looks with his shirt off.
In the end, is there only One Last First Date?

Author Guest Post – Cake!
“Since your latest book includes lots of sweets, perhaps a fun guest post topic would be something along the lines of what your favorite type of cake is and share a favorite memory that involves cake.”
I once met a kid who told me he didn’t like cake, and you know what? I didn’t believe him. No way. How could he not like cake? I mean, he was a kid, and it is cake! I sat back and watched once I’d served up the chocolate birthday cake with chocolate and caramel icing I’d made in the shape of a guitar for my son’s 8th birthday. And guess what? That kid ate cake. I’d like to say he came back for a second slice, but I suspect he was pretty full up party food. And besides, I’d seen what I needed to see: we all love cake.
When I was thinking up where to base my new book series, The Cozy Cottage Café, it felt so right to set it in a café that served wonderful, delicious, mouth-watering cakes. To me, romantic comedies are the literary equivalent of cake: indulgent and enjoyable, leaving you wanting more at the end. The Cozy Cottage Café is my characters’ home away from home, and what better comfort food than a slice of your favorite cake? Each of the three friends in the series has their particular favorite slice: Cassie’s is the flourless raspberry chocolate cake, Paige’s is the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and Marissa’s is the orange and almond syrup cake. All different, all delicious. I tell you, my mouth watered more than once while I wrote this new series!
Since Cassie’s story is the first to be told in the series, I gave her my personal favorite: chocolate cake. Who doesn’t like chocolate cake? Especially that rich, dense, gooey type with the thick icing. Oh, my … As you can probably tell, I am a total chocaholic. Hell for me would be living a life without it. My wedding cake was chocolate, and it was my favorite part of the meal. We had it served with vanilla bean ice cream and a raspberry coulis for dessert, and I tell you, not a single crumb of that cake was left at the end of the evening.
When it comes to my most special memory with cake, it has to be making them with my son. He’s been my helpful and enthusiastic little sous chef since he was two and a half and he loves to help me crack eggs, measure out ingredients, and most especially, lick the spoon (although sometimes, he has to fight me for it). He’s eight now and I know at some stage soon he’ll probably be too cool to bake with his old mama. But until then, we’ll continue to mix up our batters, watch them rise (hopefully!) through the oven glass door, and devour them with broad grins on our faces together. Perfection.
