Today I’m going to share my review on a book I read on a flight home when I traveled recently. It caught my eye on my kindle app when I was deciding what to read next because the cover had a picture of a cute girl with a rolling suitcase, appropriate right? I’m going to warn you that this isn’t my usual positive review, as I did not care for the book.
The Extraordinary Life of Lara Craft (not Croft)
My Review:
I started off loving this book and enjoyed reading about Lara’s crazy adventures. That was until she decided to get ridiculously high and proceed to have a threesome with a die-hard Twilight fan and his friend that’s helping him film a pathetic remake of the movies. I was enjoying the main character’s wacky personality but the threesome is where it started to crumble. It made me uncomfortable to read and I don’t think it was necessary for this story, plus it made the character seem a bit pathetic and I found myself feeling pity for the girl.
I’m all for girl power and a woman’s right to her own sexuality. And i’m not normally one to call other women bad names, but this girl is why women get called sluts to begin with. If having a lot of sex and having threesomes is your jam then all the more power to you, but it’s not something I care to read about. She’s had two assignments with her new job and she’s slept with two guys already, well i guess you could say three since her second set was a threesome. I’m actually a bit embarrassed for this girl’s sake and if she was my friend I would want to slap the bad nonsense out of her.
Although the story was somewhat entertaining and adventure filled, I found it to be far too unrealistic and far-fetched and I couldn’t believe the ridiculous ending. I suppose if you want an unrealistic Hollywood sex-sells approach with a bit of humor, then this is the book for you. I giggled along here and there but otherwise I found this book to be a waste of my time. My apologies to the author for a negative review, but in keeping with being honest, there you go.
My Rating: 2/5
I received a complimentary review copy NetGalley. All reviews 100% reflect my honest opinion.
