An Eclair to Remember by Rich Amooi
Book Blurb: Sydney St. James has decided to settle. She says yes to Mr. Not Quite Right and sets sail on a cruise to Alaska for her bachelorette party. But when Sydney meets Silicon Valley’s most eligible bachelor aboard the ship, her world turns upside down. Oscar Martin is handsome, charming, and to make matters worse…he gets her completely.
Oscar has his own problems—and his own fiancee. He’d planned the cruise as a last ditch attempt to save their relationship, but she decided to skip it. The tide turns when he meets Sydney as they both reach for the last eclair at the dessert station. Now he can’t get the beautiful, feisty woman off his mind.
Oscar is certain serendipity brought them together. Sydney is not so sure. But the cruise will be a trip of self-discovery for both of them, and fate will have the final word.
An Eclair to Remember is another classic Rich Amooi novel. If you aren’t already aware, Rich Amooi is one of my favorite authors. He’s well-known for his absolutely hilarious, laugh-out-loud, romantic comedies. His novels have the perfect mix of humor, sex-appeal, drama and a happily ever after. Exactly what I want in a fun, entertaining novel!
It’s safe to say that Amooi has moved from being a ‘new’ favorite, to one of my all time favorite authors. His novels provide hilarious, sharp-witted entertainment, an interesting love story and major laughs the whole way through. They are quick reads but every moment is pure delight. When you pick up a novel written by Rich, you are automatically guaranteed to thoroughly enjoy the story, from the first page to the very last.
I don’t want to give too much of the story away, but I must say that his novels just keep getting better. I find myself loving each novel even more than the last, and this was no exception. This was a particularly entertaining and interesting novel because the two main characters embark on a cruise, without the person they’re engaged to.
Serendipity brings them together throughout their trip and they begin to develop feelings for one another. They have so much in common and they begin to know more about one another in a couple of days than in the time they’ve spent with the people they’re engaged to. What happens when you find your soulmate, but you’re already engaged to someone else? Normally I would never condone pursuing a relationship with someone while you’re still involved with someone else, but this novel was written in a way that I found myself rooting for the two of them to make it happen. Can they make it work? You’ll have to grab yourself a copy to find out!
Sydney and Oscar are downright my favorite couple that Rich has created so far and this novel made my mouth water for an eclair! And it desperately made me want to take an Alaskan cruise, as the scenery sounded simply breathtaking.
Not only does Rich have a couple of fantastic rom-coms already published, but he just keeps cranking them out. I’m ecstatic to say that Rich has 6 novels being published this year, so prepare yourselves for endless humor coming your way soon!
5 stars for another classic Amooi rom-com
