Influenster – Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir

One of my favorite things about being a beauty blogger is getting luxury products sent to me… for free! and all I have to do is share my honest opinion on social media (which you know I do anyway when I try a new product). I recently was lucky enough to snag a highly coveted Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Influenster VoxBox, that had an amazing full-sized luxurious mascara. As you know, I don’t like to post a review until I’ve thoroughly tried a new product in order to share my honest, tried-and-true opinion on the product in question. So today, I’d like to share my thoughts on the new highly talked about Velvet Noir mascara from Marc Jacobs.

Marc Jacobs – Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

Marc Jacobs - Velvet NoirThe Marc Jacobs VoxBox contained a gorgeous full-sized sample of the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. Everything about this mascara is stunning, glamorous and luxurious from the bold black and white packaging to the silver Marc Jacobs label on the mascara container to the unique octagon shape of the mascara packaging.

Velvet Noir PackagingNow that I’ve mentioned how gorgeous the packaging of the mascara is, let’s talk about the product itself. Marc Jacobs claims that you will ‘experience 1800% more volume and the look of false lashes with velvet noir major volume mascara. The lash-maximizing curvy brush places the most volume at the hard-to-reach center lash line. The flash volume complex creates instant smudge-free length and volume in three strokes or less.’

After using this mascara since New Year’s Eve, I have to say that I love this mascara. However, looking at the product details from Marc Jacobs, I wouldn’t say the product holds up to said claim Marc Jacobs Beautyabove. I don’t know where they got their numbers from, (to say that something increases 1800% is a bit extreme, unless that’s a typo and it should say 180% or something of that nature) but I don’t think they met the mark on 1800% in 3 swipes or less. Although I don’t believe the claim, I have to say this product is awesome and certainly worth the money if you don’t mind plunking down $26 for a mascara. As you can see in the pictures below, this mascara has some serious volume and length power and should definitely be one on your list of products to try.

The photos below on the left are without the mascara and on the right are with 3 swipes of the mascara.

As you may have noticed in the pictures on the left in the photo above, I personally was blessed with long beautiful eyelashes. Although I’ve got natural length, one of my biggest beauty problems is my lashes don’t like to stay curled throughout the day. Finding a mascara that offers volume and length is important, but having one that has curling staying power is my number one need. This little beauty did the trick and I found that I didn’t need to freshen up at the end of the day. Not only did it have staying power on a normal day, it also lasted through a tear-inducing coughing fit I had one day. If you’re looking for a wonderful mascara that will take you from day to night without any extra touch-ups, this is the mascara for you!

Top 5 Beauty Products to Make Your Eyes PopOverall, I would give this mascara a 4 out of 5 hearts. It delivered on volume and length, but it has a tendency to get a little clumpy if you do more than a few swipes, due to offering maximum volume. This little baby is now part of my regular beauty routine. Check back next week for a beauty post on 5 of the top beauty products I use to make my eyes pop!

You can find the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara from Marc Jacobs at Sephora [$26]. Check out my post on the Sephora Beauty Board while you’re there!

Have you tried the Velvet Noir mascara yet, what did you think? What’s your favorite go-to mascara?

Velvet Noir*I received a free mascara courtesy of Influenster and Marc Jacobs beauty in exchange for an honest review. Please note that two of the product photos that are not labeled with photo credit are from I also used a hardback copy of Lauren Conrad’s book ‘Beauty’ as a prop for showcasing the Marc Jacobs mascara in the photo above.
