Today I’m excited to share an interview with author Carli Palmer. Her latest novel, Down the Aisle with Bridezilla is a hilarious story and a must read by all chick-lit lovers. I was lucky to have the opportunity to interview Carli and found out more about who she is as an author and what she enjoys doing in her free time. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did! <3
Interview with Carli Palmer
1. Would you like to start by introducing yourself?
Sure, I’m Carli Palmer and I fell in love with writing and books at an early age, spent my whole life lusting to live somewhere tropical, and love anything about horror, and the 80’s since I lived it. Down the Aisle with Bridezilla is my first novel.
2. Can you give us a brief overview of your latest novel and the inspiration behind it?
A T.V. show called Bridezilla spawned the idea of wedding craziness from the point of view from the wedding planner.
3. How long did it take you to write Down the Aisle with Bridezilla? What is your writing process like?
It took quite a few years between writing, working a full time job, and finishing college. Near the end of it something just kicked into gear and I was excited to finish it and to finally see it in print.
4. Can you tell us a bit about what you’re working on at the moment?
My next book has a summer theme to it. I don’t want to say too much but it’s got tons of humor, disaster, and a woman just trying to make it home.
5. What’s your favorite quality about your heroine/hero?
They have to be tough on the inside and not worry about what others think.
6. Did you always want to be a writer?
Yes! I’ve always loved reading and it inspired me to write my own stories which then turned into novellas and finally a book.
7. Who are the authors that inspire you and what genres do you enjoy reading?
I am a true mystery series buff by far above anything else. I love the work of Lila Dare (The Southern Beauty Shop Mysteries), Donna Andrews (Meg Langslow Mysteries), Barbara Colley (Charlotte LaRue Mysteries), and Kyra Davis.
8. Do you have any writing superstitions or rituals?
My first drafts are always with a pen and paper and yes I do type up all those pages. Physically writing it out for me first gets the juices flowing. Typing it up then becomes my first edit.
9. Is there one book that stands out in your mind that you wish you’d written?
The Ladies of the Vale by Andrew Puckett. I’ve read this one about seven times and still love it. I remember picking it up in a bargain book rack thinking that if I hated it I only spend 5 bucks, but years later it’s still on my shelf.
10. If you could be plopped down into any book, which one would it be?
A Body To Die For by Kate White. The detail is amazing. I’ve read it about twenty times and never get sick of it.
11. What would we find if we looked in your handbag right now?
A mess! I throw things in there like I’m free throwing at a basketball game. There’s always my sunglass cases, wallet, lotion, keys, and tons of spare change because I’m still a cash kind of girl.
12. Either or…
Dogs or cats? Dogs
Red wine or white? White
Coffee or tea? Coffee
Summer or Winter? Summer
Sleep in or get up early? Sleep in
Apple or PC? PC
Thank you so much for participating in this interview, I’m delighted to have you on my blog and truly appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!
