Look out London, there’s a new investigator in town! Harley Hill is a twenty-five year old woman in need of a new identity. Until now she’s been know as many things: Baker, Crazy Cat Lady, Thief, Bandit, The girl dressed like a ninja…
When she’s offered an investigative position at the Silvers Finders Agency, she decides it’s time to go straight. Her first case is to discover why a mysterious object was left behind at a jewelry store break-in. But when it turns into a murder case, Harley will need all her skills to find the killer and uncover the secret of the artifact.
With the help of her new friends, an inquisitive one-eyed cat, and contacts from her underworld past, Harley faces a race against the clock to catch the murderer. If she fails, it won’t just be the job she loses—but her life.
My Review
In Kennedy Chase’s new mystery series, Harley Hill is a young woman that goes from one sticky situation to another. Harley is a little rough around the edges with a questionable past but she’s incredibly endearing and you’ll root for things to work out for her the whole way through. Despite her shady past, she’s a woman after my own heart, her idea of a party is finishing off a large slice of cake and a drink in the comfort of her home.
Fans of Janet Evanovich watch out…you’re going to have a new favorite go-to author on your hands! This novel was a great recipe for laughter, drama, intrigue and a dash of romance. You’ve got a loyal coworker/friend, two gorgeous men that both seem interested (though one is somewhat off limits), a couple of bad guys on their tail and a lot of laughter along the way.
Something that struck me while reading this novel was the idea that you can’t ever really escape your past. Even if you’ve changed, your past will always be part of who you are and often times directly correlates to where you’re going next. You can always overcome your past and become a better person but sometimes you just need a little help along the way to propel you in the right direction. Things have a way of working themselves out but you have to trust that the people you’re with are worthy of your secrets in order to let them in to your life.
Murder on the Hill was entertaining and exciting. I’ve added the second and third books of the series to my TBR and I’ve already got the second one ready to go on my iPad. For anyone that hasn’t had a chance to read Murder on the Hill, it’s only $.99 on Amazon. 5 dynamic stars for what is sure to be a promising series.
My Rating: 5/5 Stars
