Early Bird Special by Tracy Krimmer
Publication Date: November 5, 2014
Francie excels at her job as a party planner, but can’t say the same about love. When an obnoxious, but handsome, man approaches her in line at a Thanksgiving sale, she pushes him away like she always does. Can Francie put her fears aside and nab an early bird special, or is she destined to plan every wedding but her own?
My Review
Early Bird Special is a short story about a woman named Francie and her family spending Thanksgiving together. Francie is a woman I can relate to; not only is she super organized but she likes to get 8 solid hours of sleep plus an hour to get ready in the morning. At almost thirty-one, she’s dedicated to the job that she loves as The Planning Princess (event planner) but she’s so focused on her career that she has no long term relationships to speak of.
Like many Americans, her family’s holiday tradition is to wait in line for the stores to open on Black Friday [or Thursday nowadays] and find good deals. I think its nice for families to have holiday traditions but it’s always boggled my mind that Black Friday shopping is something people look forward to. It’s so crazy to me that commercialized shopping has become what it has in the last few years, with stores opening earlier and earlier until they finally decided to just open the doors on Thanksgiving.
Early Bird Special is a cute holiday story, but I wish it was a bit longer… and I just found out that there will be a novel to continue Francie’s story!!
My Rating: 5/5 Stars
