QUESTIONS FOR ME
What is on your Christmas Wish list?
Since my family is Jewish and celebrates Hanukkah, I don’t make a Christmas wish list. Though I also didn’t really have much of a Hanukkah list either. We celebrated the last night of Hanukkah on Tuesday and I wasn’t asking for or expecting any gifts. As I’ve gotten older, the holidays have become more about spending time with friends and family and enjoying a nice meal together. Though, it never hurts to get a nice holiday check to save for when something catches my eye while out shopping. Perhaps I’ll save my Hanukkah money for some really fabulous books during 2015!
What would be the perfect Christmas?
Our Christmas tradition-yes Jewish people sometimes have their own traditions for Christmas too-is usually for the family to see a movie together during the day and have dinner together at home. This year we will be having dinner in the company of a family of close friends. The holidays are the best time to enjoy the company of those that are important in your life. And it’s always about the food! 😉
What’s your favorite winter make-up look?
In general I wear makeup to give me a natural look. Liquid makeup with SPF, a hint of bronzer, blush, highlighter and mascara. Because I’m Spanish from my Dad’s side of the family, I have a naturally tan complexion on my body, so people assume that my face has that natural tan coloring in my face too. Without a little blush I tend to look like I’m not feeling well due to the lack of color on my face. I don’t really do anything different for winter makeup than any other season. Sometimes I use a bit more bronzer to even things out or go a bit heavier on the eyeshadow at night for a party.
Do you believe in Santa?
No, but I love the idea of Santa for little children to believe in. Growing up Jewish I don’t remember being told that Santa was or wasn’t real, but I remember being about 4 or 5 and wishing that he was real. Because how cool would that be if he was?
What is your favorite Christmas food or drink?
I would have to say that my favorite Christmas food is all of the delicious baked goods that happen this time of year. Cookies, cupcakes, cheesecake and so on. Sometimes I make cakepop truffles and some years, if we have the time-and patience!-my mom and I make caramel pretzel sticks covered in Oreo crumbs or toffee bits and drizzled in chocolate.
Will you be traveling for Christmas, if so where?
No traveling for me. If you’re lucky enough to live near family, it’s a good time of year to stay home!
Would you prefer Christmas with or without snow?
Idealistically I would say with snow because who doesn’t dream of a White Christmas? But realistically I’m always cold, even in 70 degree weather here in Orange County, and I can’t even begin to imagine having to deal with the snow and trying to get around in it.
Do you like eggnog?
I’ll be honest here, I’ve never actually tried it, but it’s not something I’m interested in trying!
What is your favorite winter clothing?
I absolutely love winter weather clothing! Sweaters, scarves and leggings galore. My favorite would have to be sweaters, sweaters and more sweaters!
Do you leave Santa cookies, if so who eats them?
Again, being Jewish, leaving cookies for Santa wasn’t really a thing in our house. I think it’s a cute tradition though!
What was the best gift you ever received?
I don’t think I can pinpoint just one gift, but obviously I love when I get books. Oh I know, last year for my birthday my parents bought me an iPad. That’s one of my favorite gifts I’ve ever gotten.
What is your favorite Christmas memory?
My favorite Christmas (or holiday time) memory is sitting in front of the fireplace with a good book!
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas, a safe New Year’s Eve
and a wonderful happy holiday season! Cheers!
I’m a sucker for the baked goods too. 🙂
